USB BUTTONLINK OFFERS FASTER
READ/WRITE PERFORMANCE
FOR BUTTONMEMORY®
CMBs
MacSema, Inc. announces a USB compatible
version of its ButtonLink probe. The USB ButtonLink takes advantage of enhanced data
transfer rates offered by the industry standard USB interface to dramatically increase the
speed that data can be read/written to ButtonMemory contact memory buttons (CMBs). A
USB ButtonLink is a handheld probe that is connected to a PC, laptop or tablet computer
via the USB port and is used to read and write to CMBs. The new device
allows a 32K byte button to be read
in less than two (2) seconds.
The USB ButtonLink is supported by a
Software Developers Kit (SDK) that provides developers with two Application Program
Interfaces (APIs): the ButtonLink API and the ButtonMemory API. The SDK also
includes sample programs, with source code, as well as demonstration programs and
documentation. The ButtonLink SDK supports the Microsoft Win32 development environment.
ButtonMemory CMBs are rugged, battery
free, read/write data storage devices. When attached to an asset a CMB serves as a rugged
identifier and as an updateable electronic logbook that enables configuration management,
maintenance record keeping and other logistical support functions throughout the
assets life cycle. ButtonMemory CMB's are available in a variety of physical
sizes (MicroButton, MiniButton,
and MegaButton)
with memory capacities up to 512 Megabytes.
ButtonMemory technology is impervious to
most operating environments, including: temperature extremes, radiation, electrostatic
discharge (ESD), electromagnetic interference (EMI), electromagnetic pulse (EMP), shock,
vibration, solvents and saltwater.
