The MiniButton™ is the most
popular member of MacSema's family of rugged contact memory
buttons (CMB). Smaller than a dime, the
MiniButton measures 14.3mm (0.56 in) in diameter by 2.8mm (0.11in) high and weighs
just .77 grams (.027 ounces). MiniButtons are available in a range
of memory capacities from 128 bytes to 64K bytes of battery free data
storage and offer virtually unlimited read, write data modification
capability.
ButtonMemory technology is a family of rugged, battery
free, read/write identification devices designed to support universal
automatic identification applications on components and equipment. When
attached to equipment and related components a memory button functions as
an electronic log book (portable data base) to advance configuration
management, maintenance record keeping, asset tracking, and other
logistical support functions through out the item’s life cycle.
The technology has completed successful testing using
rigorous military standards, including: temperature extremes, radiation,
electrostatic discharge (ESD), electromagnetic interference (EMI),
electromagnetic pulse (EMP), shock, vibration, solvents and saltwater.
MacSema also manufactures a variety of handheld Button
readers. ButtonMemory systems are designed to take full advantage of off
the shelf software allowing integration with industry standard hardware
platforms. Password protection and data encryption are designed into the
system. Performance can be tailored to specific applications. Data is
retained indefinitely.
